Agreement all around! These plots are fantastic and have my brain buzzing about how I could use them for some work I'm doing right now!

As for SWMPr, I could go either way. I often pull in many packages, but could see it being helpful to have all the plotting functions available in one package (but I guess the cookbook could serve a the middle ground!)

I did the thing....
devtools::install_github('fawda123/SWMPr', ref = 'development')
library(SWMPr)
plot_wind(apaebmet)

Really tempted to make a widget for this, what do you guys think?

I love it! (you knew I'd say that though, right?)

It would make a great widget, especially if faceting by month can be a widget option. I would click on every single reserve to check out their wind patterns.

My next idea might be asking a liiiiittle too much, but know what else would be cool? Something like the trends map, but instead of a red or blue spot to show trends, put a wind rose encompassing all a reserve's wind data. So we can see a summary of all reserves at once!
